Description
In 1911 the Rheinische Musik- and Theaterzeitung wrote about Frederick Delius and his English rhapsody Brigg Fair : “He is a master in the mixture of instrumental colours, his harmonic combinations are bold and new, and the deeply chaste, poetic sentiment always prevails over the reflexive character or the orchestral technicality. Delius walks the lonely path of the dreamer, speaking his own language; and as he disassociates himself from the masses, it is, at least for the time being, only a few that understand him.”
