Description
Schoenberg said of Zemlinsky that his time would come and was right. At least since the retrospective as part of the music protocol of the Styrian Autumn 1974 people have been talking about Zemlinsky again and playing his works. The multiple performances of the “Lyric Symphony” and the production of the opera “A Florentine Tragedy” in Kiel prove it. The “Humoreske”, an entertaining piece in rondo form, is one of the few compositions for smaller ensembles that Zemlinsky has intended for studying instrumentalists, but is on a much higher level than so-called “school music”. Suitable for the concert hall as well as for school and home!
