Description
This edition of the Twelve Duets for Two Violins by Mozart is based on the 1798 edition by J.André in Offenbach and the 1800 edition by Artaria & Co. in Vienna. These duets are masterful adaptations of Mozart’s original settings; (piano sonatas, violin – piano duets, a string quartet and the Clarinet Trio). Unfortunately, the identities of these eighteenth century transcribers are unknown. Judging by their expert handling of the original material, they belonged to Mozart’s inner circle and most likely were his disciples. While maintaining Mozart’s original phrasing, this edition includes contemporary bowings and fingerings.
Included in Volume 4: 10. Duet for Two Violins in E-flat Major K 498; 11. Duet for Two Violins in D Major K 311; 12. Duet for Two Violins in A Major K 331
