This slow ballad depicts the final days of Lonesome George,who died in 2012 asthe last of thegiantGalapagos tortoises of Pinta Island.An opening trombone solo is the prelude for an extremely expressive melody which builds to an emotional finish.Musicians will be challenged both emotionally and musically with this simple but descriptive lyrical piece composed for brass quintet.
