Description
Gabriel Fauré wrote his Pavane (op. 50) in 1887 for “orchestra with choir ad libitum”. The text, set to the choral voices, is about suffering in love. Fauré tells this story with the intense expressiveness of a simple melody and harmony. The present arrangement emphasizes the rich palette of timbres of the two instruments and traces the delicately melancholic atmosphere.
